Welcome to the Knox County Democratic Party!

The Knox County Democratic Party is a hard-working group of Democrats striving together for a common cause to improve life for every Tennessean.

In the last eight years, we have opened and remodeled a permanent headquarters in downtown Knoxville and trained over ninety grassroots organizers. We have made tens of thousands of phone calls and knocked on thousands of doors for candidates and issues. Through our headquarters, we have hosted a regional office of the Tennessee Democratic Party and have provided space to candidates running for local and state office.

We would love to have you join us, and there has never been a better time than NOW! 2018 elections are just around the corner with much work to be done.

    An Evening With Jason Kander

    JasonKander.png

Join us for an evening with Jason Kander.  Voter suppression laws are having a negative impact on our country and disproportionately impacting people based on their race or ethnicity, gender, age, or income.  Come hear what what we can all do to work against them and preserve the right to vote.

A husband, a father, a former Army Captain who served in Afghanistan, and Missouri’s 39th Secretary of State, Jason Kander is the president of Let America Vote.  Jason, the first millennial in the country to be elected to statewide office, started Let America Vote in February 2017 to fight back against proposals across the country that make it harder for eligible voters to exercise their constitutional right to cast a ballot.  He is also the host of the weekly podcast series Majority 54.

Jason is a fellow Red State Democrat and an emerging leader in the Democratic Party, recently appointed by the Democratic National Committee to chair the Commission to Protect American Democracy from the Trump Administration.

This speaking event is a fundraiser for the Knox County Democratic Party.  Proceeds for the evening will assist Democratic candidates in the 2018 midterm elections.  Seating at the event will be unassigned.

    Learn to Canvass

It's not enough to vote. It's not enough to ask your friends to vote. The Blue Wave will only be a reality if we do the work, and it needs to start now.

Come join us to learn how to canvass with some training and practice.

Feminist Book Club: Hunger by Roxane Gay

Join us for our next book club installment, Hunger by Roxane Gay!
Many of you suggested it for our Reader's Choice, and we just couldn't resist. Gay's bestselling memoir uses her own emotional and psychological struggles as a means of exploring our shared anxieties over pleasure, consumption, appearance, and health.

The New York Times says, "At its simplest, it’s a memoir about being fat — Gay’s preferred term — in a hostile, fat-phobic world. At its most symphonic, it’s an intellectually rigorous and deeply moving exploration of the ways in which trauma, stories, desire, language and metaphor shape our experiences and construct our reality."
