Register to Vote

The first step in bringing your voice to the polls is to register to vote.  Registering to vote in Knox County has never been easier: you can now register to vote online, in person, or through the mail.


Register to Vote Online

Visit the Tennessee Online Voter Registration System to register to vote online.

  • To register online, you must have a Tennessee driver's license or Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security ID. If you do not have one of these readily available, you need to follow the directions below to mail in your registration form.
  • Online voter registrations follow the same deadlines as mail-in registrations; the registration must be submitted at least 30 days before election day.


Register to Vote in Person or By Mail

Follow these few simple steps to register to vote in person or by mail.

  1. Print this application:
  2. Fill out the form. Pay attention to all questions and make sure that you answer the questions located in Sections 1 & 11. If you miss any required information, your application will be rejected.
  3. Submit the application to the Knox County Election Commission. You can do this by either mailing your application form or hand delivering it to the Election Commission at 300 Main Street, Suite 218, Knoxville, TN 37902.  Applications can also be delivered to KCDP Headquarters at 311 Morgan Street, Knoxville, TN 37917, and KCDP staff or a trusted volunteer will ensure your application is submitted to the Election Commission.
  4. In a few weeks, you will receive your voter registration card in the mail. You may also receive a follow-up phone call making sure that you received this card.

Remember that if you register to vote by mail, you must vote in person with a valid photo ID in your first election!  If you have any difficulties or questions, call the Knox County Democratic Party office at 865-540-4001, and KCDP staff will help guide you through the process.

Update Voter Registration Information

The Tennessee Secretary of State provides a wealth of information on how to update your voter registration information, including whether you moved within Knox County, moved outside Knox County, changed your name, or if you need a duplicate voter registration card.
