The election results have left many of us in shock and disbelief. Despite the challenges that lay ahead of us as Democrats and citizens, there are enormous opportunities for folks to get involved and build for future elections.
In March the county party will be re-organizing at its convention, and this will be a time for new folks to come in and get involved. After serving 4 years as Vice Chair and Chair of the Knox County Democratic Party I announced at our recent County Assembly Meeting that I will not be running for another term. I've enjoyed my tenure and have made a great many friends, and I believe we have many great new leaders who can step up to lead us in the years to come.
There are several upcoming events of interest to Democrats in the month of December that we wanted to share with you. We will continue to share more information as we learn about other events.
First, the Knox County Democratic Party is partnering with State Representative Rick Staples to host our annual holiday party. The party will serve as a Toys for Tots event as well- please bring a toy that can be given to an underprivileged child in our community. The holiday party will be on Thursday, December 8th at 6:30 pm at Saw Works in the Old City. For more information and to RSVP, click HERE.
The second event is a listening tour stop from the Tennessee Democratic Party, which will occur on Tuesday, December 13th at 6:00 pm at the AFL-CIO Central Labor Council, located at 1522 Bill Williams Avenue. TNDP Chair Mary Mancini will be leading this meeting, which will discuss what worked, what didn't work, and how we move forward in future elections. For more information and to RSVP, click HERE.
