Knox County Democratic Chairperson Linda Haney released the following statement on news that the President will be visiting Tennessee on Thursday to discuss expanding economic opportunity.
“The people of Knox County work hard and need an economy that works hard for them. We are proud to welcome President Obama to address what Tennessee can do to provide opportunities to all our citizens and strengthen the middle class.
Under the President’s leadership, our economy has recovered from the Bush recession, but too many Tennesseans are still working two or three jobs just to make ends meet. Tennesseans want good paying jobs to provide for their families and provide opportunities to their children.
Knox County needs an economy built from the middle out, not the top down. We all want the opportunity to live the American dream, and we look forward to hearing the President’s goals and vision to grow the economy in a way that rewards hard work.”
